The Atlanta 50 were selected by the AJC’s Dining Team of food critics, John Kessler and Jenny Turknett and were listed by food types. Dining Team member Jon Watson also wrote about on-the-go cuisine (mainly food trucks) which did not include the Peachtree Road Farmers Market. Those represented 12 of the 50.
Here are those 13 selected in The Atlanta 50 Great Eats—Beyond Restaurants that can be found every Saturday at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market, in the parking lot of the Cathedral of St. Philip, at the intersection of Peachtree Road and Rumson Road.
Dairy Items: Atlanta Fresh Artisan Creamery (Greek yogurt), Decimal Place Farm (cheeses) and Izzy’s Cheese (Mozzarella cheese).
Bread: H&F Bread Co. and Pure Knead.
Meats: Pine Street Market (bacon and sausage) and The Spotted Trotter (a range of salumi salted and cured meats).
Bottled and Jarred Goods:Hope’s Gardens Pesto, Fairywood Thicket (jellies, jams and chutney) and Phickles Pickles.
Coffee: Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters.
Dry Goods and Pasta:Storico Fresco Pasta.
Wine and Spirits: H&F Bottleshop.
The Peachtree Road Farmers Market features more than 35 vendors every Saturday from 8:30 to 12 noon and is open each year from mid-April to mid-December.
