Improv comedy club to open Oct. 4 in Buckhead

type='html'>The Improv’s grand opening at 56 East Andrews Drive in Buckhead will be Oct. 4, featuring comedian Louie Anderson as its first headliner, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

As previously reported, the stand-up comedy club and dinner theater—probably best known for its A&E network show “An Evening at the Improv”—will be located in the Andrews Entertainment District, which includes East Andrews Cafe & Bar, Cellar 56 and Stout Irish Sports Bar.

The Improv was founded by Budd Friedman in New York in 1963 and started expanding in 1975 when it opened its second location on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood California.

The Punchline and Laughing Skull Lounge have been the Atlanta comedy club staples but has expanded in recent years with the addition of The Village Theatre, Whole World Theatre, Relapse Theatre and Dad’s Garage Theatre.
