Skyland Trail hosts 11 leading mental health researchers, clinicians for Lecture Series Friday

type='html'>Skyland Trail, a non-profit treatment facility for adults with mental illness, will host 11 of the nation’s leading mental health researchers and clinicians at the Second Annual Dorothy Chapman Fuqua Lecture Series on Friday.

Panelists and lecturers will share the latest mental health research, insights and practices, centered around the event’s theme, “Trailblazing in Psychiatry: Charting Future Paths of Mental Health Treatments.” 

The Lecture Series honors Dorothy Chapman Fuqua, founding board member, long-time friend and benefactor of Skyland Trail.  In its second year, the Lecture Series is committed to the engagement and education of the Atlanta community on issues of mental health.

The lecturers participating will be: Charles B. Nemeroff, MD, PhD, Leonard Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami; Mark L. Rosenberg, MD, MPP, The Task Force for Global Health, Atlanta, and Doug M. Ziedonis, MD, MPH, University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Panelists will include: W. Edward Craighead, PhD, Emory University School of Medicine; Philip D. Harvey, PhD, Leonard Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami; Ned H. Kalin, MD, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health; Clinton D. Kilts, PhD, University of Arkansas – Medical Sciences; John W. Newcomer, MD, Leonard Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, and Alan F. Schatzberg, MD, Stanford University School of Medicine

The moderators will be: Mark H. Rapaport, MD, Emory University School of Medicine, and Ray Kotwicki, MD, MPH, Emory University School of Medicine, Skyland Trail.

The Lecture Series event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Skyland Trail Health and Education Center, Main Campus, 1903 North Druid Hills Road.
