The police report shows that 17 of the cars were in the parking garage—a secure, gated parking complex—and the other 13 were parked in surface lots. A code is required to get into the parking garage.
Most of the vehicles had the windows broken out and the damage appears to exceed what was taken in most of the cases. Police reported that most of what was taken was loose change, CDs, etc. More expensive items, including a set of golf clubs, were left behind by the thieves.
Police believe youths may have been involved in the break-ins.
Police were first notified of the break-ins around 3:30 a.m. Thursday, and were still trying to locate all of the owners early in the day.
